O
Brother, Where Art Thou? Movie Review ..
The movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a comedy about Homer's
Odyssey. The film was written, directed, and produced by Joel
and Ethan Coen, more commonly known as the Coen
Brothers.
Everett Ulysses McGill (played by George Clooney) and his two
prison buddies escape from a working chain gang. Everett promises
them a bountiful bank loot that must be found before a new dam
being built makes it impossible to reach.
The trio come across all manner of strange people and situations
along the way.
O Brother Where Art Thou is set in Mississippi around the time
of the great depression. Music from the soundtrack includes
American roots music, with bluegrass, gospel, blues and country
music featuring heavily throughout the film.
The O Brother soundtrack went on to sell more than 5 million
copies and won several awards, including a Grammy Award for
Album of the Year and Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.
The soundtrack was produced by T-Bone Burnett and released by
the Mercury Records label.
The Simpsons also have an episode called "Oh Brother, Where
Art Thou?" where Homer meets up with his long lost brother,
but it is not related to the Coen Brothers movie.

"A woman is the most fiendish instrument of torture
ever devised to bedevil the days of man."
"Everything's gonna be put on electricity and run on a
paying basis. Out with the old spiritual mumbo jumbo, the superstitions,
and the backward ways. We're gonna see a brave new world where
they run everybody a wire and hook us all up to a grid. Yes,
sir, a veritable age of reason. Like the one they had in France.
Not a moment too soon."
"You can't display a toad in a fine restaurant like this!
Why, the good folks here would go right off the feed."

George Clooney did the right thing by teaming up with the
wacky Coen brothers. I have loved all their films, including
the O Brother pic.
Clooney may have found his niche in comedy and I'm now a fan!
