Steven
Soderbergh and Clooney Split (continued) ..
Steven Soderbergh
and George Clooney started the "Section Eight" company
in 2000 to make films that were not just made to make mega-dollars.
Some of the movies that were made includes "Goodnight,
and Good Luck", "Syriana", and the popular "Oceans
Eleven" series of films.
Soderbergh reportedly said "It has stopped being fun. We
just sat down one day and said 'no more.' It was a bit like
The Beatles.. let's get out after Abbey Road.. although with
less acrimony. The workload became too heavy."
Much of the recent critical success of Clooney has come from
the "Section Eight" made films, "Syriana"
and "Goodnight and Good Luck". While the Oceans series
of films have been commercially successful, allowing the company
to make more adventurous and offbeat films.
Ocean's Thirteen will be the last in the Oceans series. Clooney
and Soderbergh want the final installment to be more like Ocean's
Eleven, with a lot more fun and less complication.
The final Ocean's movie will have George Clooney, Brad Pitt
and Matt Damon doing their usual thing. But it will also have
a new villain character played by Al Pacino.
